Russian auto sales

Russian auto sales fell again in double-digit in July. The market did not show any sign of recovery after 19th month of year on year fall while little recovery was reported for the Russian economy.

Market Outlook

Russian economy contracted 1.2% annually in Q1, yet the downturn was softer than expected. More recent data show that parts of the economy are gradually leaving the recession behind. An increase in oil prices from Q1 to Q2 supported a gradual improvement in the Russian industrial sector, and as inflation eased and the ruble stabilized, the decline in real wages moderated.

Meantime the automotive sector kept falling and in July it scored the 19th year on year lost in a row scored in July.

Indeed, according to data released by the AEB, the Association of European Businesses in Russia, in July the domestic vehicles sales have been 109.410, down 14.2%.

Year to date July the total sales volume declined at 781.141, down 14.5%.
