Saudi Arab car sales rose 21% in July 2012. Ford in third position.

The Saudi Arab car market confirmed its momentum posting the 31st consecutive year-on-year growth with over 61.000 sales and 21.4% increase. This market is really interesting considering that, in spite of it is growing since the 2010 at all-time record level, high growth potential is still untouched.

In July, Saudi Arab was the world’s 20th light passengers market.

Focus2move.com holds the full year 2012 forecast at 680.000 units, up 14% from previous year, with a target of 850.000 for the 2015.

Toyota confirmed in July the dominion over the market posting 26.076 sales and 42.7% of share, up 1.3 points of share from the previous month and 3.4 points from the first half. The Saudi Arab will represent over 250.000 units this year for the Japanese brand.

Hyundai was the second, with 10.615 sales and a share of 17.4%, up 0.2 points from previous month and down 1.5 points of share from the first half, penalized by the Accent under performance.

Behind, Ford, Chevrolet and Kia were very close, competing for the third position of the market.

Ford was 3rd in the month (5th year-to-date) with 4.219 units and a share of 6.9%, up 1.0 points from the first half, the best share of the year.

Chevrolet was 4th in the month, surpassing Kia for the 3rd position in the year-to-date ranking, selling 4.007 units with a market share of 6.6%, down 1.3 points from the previous month and up 0.3 points from the first half.

Kia was 4th with 3.365 sales with share dropped at 5.3%, down 1.4 points from the previous month, penalized by Rio underperformance.

The luxury segment is quite small, with BMW as leader, ranked 17th in the absolute race, with a share of 0.4%.
