Senegal vehicles market falls due to the global pandemic affecting sales. Indeed, Full Year 2020 sales have been 5.756, down 6.1% compared to 2019. Toyota remains the undiscussed leader and keeps gaining market share.

Market Trend

The Senegal vehicle market has been affected in 2020 by the global COVID-19 pandemic, which impacted sales significantly. 

Indeed, after years of stable demand around the 5.000 annual units, in recent years the new vehicles market started growing, hitting an All-time record in 2017 with 8.339 sales. However, in 2018 the market has interrupted the previous years’ positive trend, falling suddenly down 16.2% with registrations at 6.985.

In 2019, the market kept declining, selling 6.129 units and losing 12.3% from 2018.

Full-Year sales for 2020 have been 5.756, reporting a 6.1% decrease compared to 2019.

Brand-wise, this year the leader Toyota (+2.2%) gained 2.6% market share, followed by Mitsubishi (-15.1%) which lost 1.3% share. Renault (-20.4%) was in the third position and lost 1.2% market share.

The most sold model in the country remains the Mitsubishi L200 with 580 sales (-14.1%), holding 10.2% market share.
