Slovenia: August 2013 Car Market rose 9%, pulled up by strong Renault sales.

Accordingly with data released by Sekcija Za Osebna Motorna Vozila, the local Association of Car Manufacturers, in August car passenger’s market posted the 6th year-on-year increase in a row with 3.373 registrations, up 9.8% from last year. Year-to-date sales were 36.439 and now the comparison with the previous year is positive, by 2.6%. Full year volumes are now projected back above the 50.000 units.

Giving a deeper look at the best brands performance:

Renault, following the outstanding results in June and July, confirmed the leadership in August with 606 sales and a share of 18%, up 2.5 points of share from the previous month. Year-to-date August sales were 5.596 with a share of 15.4%. Renault held 5 models in the top 25, with the Clio as market leader.

Volkswagen was 2nd, selling 471 vehicles with a share of 14%, down 1.3 points of share from the previous month. Year-to-date sales were 5.238 with a share of 14.4%. Volkswagen held 5 models in the top 25, with the Golf in 4th position.

Kia climbed to the 3rd position (4th year-to-date) selling 303 units, with a share of 9.0% up 1.1 points from the previous month. Year-to-date sales were 2.632 with a share of 7.2%. The Cee’d been 2nd.

Skoda was 4th, (6th year-to-date) selling 230 units with a share of 6.8%, down 0.7 points from the previous month. Year-to-date sales were 2.363 with a share of 6.5%. The best-selling model was the Octavia in 6th position.

Peugeot was 5th losing 2 spots from July and selling 189 vehicles with a share of 5.6%, down 2.3 points from the previous month. Year-to-date sales were 2.581 with a share of 7.1%. The top model was the 208 in 11th position.

Opel was 6th (3rd Ytd) selling 181 vehicles with a share of 5.4%, down 1.8 points from the previous month. Year-to-date sales were 2.634 with a share of 7.2%. The top model was the Corsa in 8th position.

Renault Clio was the market leader with 250 sales and a share of 7.4%, down 0.1 points from the previous month. Year-to-date sales were 2.847, with a share of 7.9 points.

Kia Cee’d was 2nd with 233 units and a share of 6.9%, up 0.1 points from the previous month, up 0.7 points from July, followed by Renault Scenic in 3rd (up 7 spots from July) with 171 sales and a share of 5.1%, up 3.4 points from the previous month.

Volkswagen Golf fell in 4th (2nd Ytd) with 137 units and a share of 4.1%, down 0.5 points from the previous month, followed by Volkswagen Polo in 5th with 124 sales and a share of 3.7%, down 0.8 points from the previous month, and by Skoda Octavia in 6th, up 2 spots, with 106 sales and a share of 3.1%, up 1.2 points from the previous month.

Remarkable was the performance of the Renault Captur which gained 2 spots and came in the top ten, with 2% of share in August (+0.4 from July), while the Skoda Fabia lost 1.3 points of share from the previous month and slipped in 13th place.
