Slovenia: car market flat in May. Renault celebrates Captur launch with market leadership.

In May 2013 Car Passengers sales in Slovenia were flat from last year, with 4.660 registrations. Year-to-date sales were 22.738, down2.6%. Renault boomed sales thanks to the alone of new Captur launch. Not only Captur was able to keep the 15th place, but others models grew leveraging on strong dealer traffic generated by the new model launch. So Megane and Scenic significantly improved their performance.

Giving a deeper look at the best brands performance:

Renault jumped in 1st place thanks to new Captur launch and strong registrations for Scenic and Megane, while Clio, market leader, had lost share. Sales were 751 with a share of 16.1%, up 2.7 points of share from last month. Year-to-date it was second with 3.179 units and 14.0% of share.

Volkswagen‘s is losing terrain following a strong first quarter. Share in Q1 was at 15.0% declining at 14.2% in April and May. Last month sales were 703 while cumulated sales were 3.383, with a share of 14.6%, keeping Volkswagen on top of the list, few units ahead of Renault.

Opel surged in 3rd place with 356 sales and 8.6% of share, up 2.4 points from the previous month. Year-to-date it was 4th with 1.656 sales and 7.5% of share. Opel posted a strong volume on Astra which joined Corsa in the top ten models.

Citroen was 4th, up 1 spot, selling 329 units with a share of 7.6%, up 1.0 points from the previous month. Year-to-date sales were 1.592 with a share of 6.7%. Berlingo was the top model in 17th.

Peugeot was 5th, down 2 spots, selling 293 units with a share of 6.0%, down 0.9 points of share from the previous month. Year-to-date it was 3rd with 1.693 sales and 7.7% of share. Peugeot held 2 models in the top 25, with the 3008 in 20th.

Skoda was 6th selling 313 units with a share of 6.4%, down 0.2 points from the previous month. Year-to-date sales were 1.489 with a share of 6.5%.

Renault Clio kept market leadership in spite of declining share and selling 296 units with a share of 6.4%, down 0.8 points from the previous month. Year-to-date sales were 1.562 with a share of 6.9%.

Volkswagen Golf maintained the 2nd place with 257 units sold and a share of 5.5%, up 1.2 points from the previous month, followed by Kia Cee’d in 3rd with 228 sales and a share of 4.9%, up 1.5 points from April.

Renault Scenic soared in 4th, up 2 spots, with 180 units and a share of 3.9%, up 1.2 points from the previous month, followed by Volkswagen Polo, 5th from 3rd, with 163 units.

Behind, a group of rolling models: Megane was 6th from 11th, Skoda Fabia was 7th from 34th, and Opel Astra was 8th from 16th.

New Renault Captur was 15th.
