Slovenian Autos Market grew 2.7% in 2018 keeping the positive trend of recent years, ending the sixth year of annual gain with 72.787 units sold. Volkswagen confirms itself as the market leader, while Fiat scored an astonishing +82.9%, jumping in 5th place.

Economic Environment

Slovenian economy gained speed at the outset of the final quarter. In October, retail sales grew at almost three times the pace as in the previous month as consumers became more optimistic about their personal financial situation and the general economic conditions. Moreover, industrial production picked up in the month after losing considerable strength in September, and business sentiment remained robust.

The economy is set to lose ground next year, led by a deceleration in export growth amid a broad-based downturn across the Eurozone. Fixed investment will also likely grow at a more moderate pace due to less favorable financing conditions as the European Central Bank moves to tighten its monetary policy stance. That said, household spending should be bolstered by the minimum wage hike and continue to support a healthy pace of expansion

Slovenian vehicles market has fast recovered after the 2009 crisis and domestic sales are growing uninterruptedly since five years, with 2016 light vehicles sales at 73.633, including car passenger’s at 63.672.
