South Africa best selling cars ranking in the 2015 led by Volkswagen Polo Vivo locally produced and dominator since years with a good gap over the pick ups Toyota Hilux and Ford Ranger.
According to the statement released by the NAAMSA, the Federation of South African Car Manufacturers, the best-selling car in the 2015 was again the Volkswagen Polo (both sedan and hatchback versions), locally called “Vivo” and manufactured at Volkswagen’s Uitenhage plant in South Africa, which sources 70% of the Vivo parts locally.
The Polo Vivo is available with a choice of two 1.4 litre engines (55 kW & 63 kW) and a 1.6 litre engine (77 kW), in both 3-door and 5-door versions and as a saloon derivative.
Sales in the 2015 have been 56.820 (-11.5%). The second was the Toyota Hilux with 35.684 units (-5.0%) and the third was the Ford Ranger with 33.920 sales (+18.1%).
Fourth was the Toyota Corolla with 24.894 units (+17.1%) followed by Nissan NP200 with 17.991 (+3.2%), the Chevrolet Utility with 16.340 (+2.6%), the Isuzu KB with 16.321 (+5.4%), the Toyota Etios with 16.220 (-12.8%), the Mercedes C Class with 12.562 (-12.7%) and in 10th place the Korean Hyundai i10 Grand sold in 11.948 that was the best new models of the year.
Scrolling through the top 100 models ranking, we noted the Datsun Go in 23rd place with 5.647 sales, the Nissan X-Trail, up 27 spots, in 42nd, the Mazda CX-5, up 90 spots, in 54th and the BMW Series 2 landed in 61st place.
