Spain best selling cars ranking in 2018 dominated by the Seat Leon while the more immediate followers, the Seat Ibiza and the Dacia Sandero gained the podium few units ahead of the Nissan Qashqai. Impressive performance scored by the Peugeot 3008 in 8th place.
The 2018 registered an increase in sales for the 6th year in a row with the best annual score in this decade, confirming the long run of the Spanish car passenger’s market. Indeed, according to data released by the Minister of Transportation through the local association of car distributors (ANIACAM), the year ended with 1.33 million sales, up 7.2%, the third best results ever and the best since 2007.
As far as engine mix, the development of new energy engine is rapid but still at marginal level, with Electric Vehicles sales at 11.814 units in the year (+62.9%) while gasoline sales surged at 63% of the market (vs 51% in the 2017) to 840.114 units (+32.3%) and diesels sales fall 19.6% to 482.157.
As far as the best-selling cars ranking, the 2018 trend confirmed the leadership of the two top models, with actually the Seat Leon with 35.890 (+1.6%) prevailing over the Seat Ibiza which was second with 31.474 sales (-6.9%).
In third place the Nissan Qashqai with 31.276 (+8.8%) followed by the Dacia Sandero with 31.121 sales (+16.1%) losing the podium for few units, the Renault Clio with 28.798 units (-0.3%) and the Volkswagen Polo with 28.138 (+17.9%).
In seventh place the Volkswagen Golf with 25.707 units (-1.4%) ahead of the Peugeot 3008 – up an astonishing 47.6% – with 22.865, the Opel Corsa with 22.847 (-14.6%) and in 10th place the Peugeot 2008 with 22.669 (+16.3%).
