Spain: car sales rose 15% in July pushed by incentives. Volkswagen was hot.

In July, car sales in Spain were 75.184 reporting a double digit increase from the previous year, with a 15.1% increase that was the best year-on-year performance in 5 years. Year-to-date sales were 461.556, down only 2.1% from last year.

Looking at the best brands performance:

Volkswagen jumped to the first position, selling 7.296 vehicles with a share of 9.7%, up 2.7 points of share from the previous month. Year-to-date July sales were 40.838 with a share of 8.8%. Volkswagen held 5 models in the top 50, with the Polo in 2nd position.

Renault was 2nd (5th year-to-date) posting a negative month with 6.589 sales and a share of 8.8%, down 1.1 points of share from the previous month. Year-to-date sales were 33.426 with a share of 7.3%. Renault held 4 models in the top 50, with the Megane in 4th position.

Seat was 3rd position, selling 6.110 units with a share of 8.1%, down 0.8 points of share from the previous month. Year-to-date sales were 41.139 with a share of 8.9%. Seat held 3 models in the top 50, with the Ibiza as market leader.

Opel was 4th selling 5.679 vehicles with a share of 7.6%, down 1.0 points from the previous month. Year-to-date sales were 37.428 with a share of 8.1%. The best-selling model was the Corsa in 7th position.

Peugeot was 5th, selling 5.605 units with a share of 7.5%, up 0.3 points from the previous month. Year-to-date sales were 36.426 with a share of 7.9%. The top model was again the 208 in 12th.

Citroen was 6th selling 4.939 vehicles with a share of 6.6%, up 0.9 points from the previous month. Year-to-date sales were 29.983 with a share of 6.5%. The top model was the C4 in 11th position.

Seat Ibiza was the market leader, with 2.505 units and a share of 3.3%, down 0.3 points from the previous month. Year-to-date sales were 16.195 with a share of 3.5%.

Volkswagen Polo was 2nd, up 6 spots, with 2.410 units and a share of 3.2%, up 1.0 points from the previous month, followed by Volkswagen Golf in 3rd, up 6 spots, with 2.377 sales and a share of 3.2%, up 1.0 points from the previous month.

Renault Megane was 4th, selling 2.280 units with a share of 3.0%, up 0.1 points from the previous month, followed by Renault Clio in 5th, down 3 spots, with 2.192 sales and a share of 2.9%, down 1.0 points from the previous month, and by Nissan Qashqai in 6th, up 4 spots, with 1.900 sales and a share of 2.9%, up 0.9 points from the previous month.
