Spanish vehicles market hot in August

Spanish vehicles market

Spanish vehicles market hot in August fueled by positive economy and strong private consumption. The month marked the best y.o.y. score of the year. Volkswagen was market leader.

Market Outlook

Spain’s economy remained on a solid footing in the second quarter. Growth was mainly driven by a surge in exports, which saw the largest increase on record, on the back of larger volumes of goods sold to non-EU countries. In addition, private consumption remained strong, fueled by rising employment, the annual decline in consumer prices and low-interest rates.

Although the recovery has been long and solid, the domestic vehicles industry keeps growing fast. Thanks to a low volume base, August was the best in the year as Y.o.Y. increase.

According to data released by the ANIAC  and the ANIACAM, the Spanish Associations of Car Manufacturers and Dealers, in August the total new car passengers sold have been 64.550, improving 15.4%.

Year to date August sales had been 795.778, up 11.4%.
