Sweden car market runs Q3 2015 in 2 digits

sweden car market

Sweden car market runs Q3 in double-digit and now is projecting the all time record. Sales are driven by low emission vehicles sales and the renovation of car fleet on the road.

Economic Outlook

Sweden’s economy surprised analysts on the upside in the second quarter, recording annual growth of 3.0%. The solid figure came from strong performance in both the domestic and external sides of the economy, with an acceleration in export growth driving the yearly increase.

Exporters benefited from the weak krona and stronger European demand in the first half of the year, however the recent strengthening of the currency will likely dampen exporters’ competitiveness going forward.

Meanwhile, the government is poised to present the 2016 budget in September, which is expected to focus on reducing unemployment and shrinking the fiscal deficit.

Market Outlook

Sustained by the robust economic growth the Sweden car market navigates on the highest level ever.

Following the +12.7% performed in the 2014 when the full year 340.079 cars sold hits the second best ever volume, this year the market is running towards the new all time record.

The 2015 has been positive since the first days and the Q1 was already reported up +11.7%, confirmed with a First Half ended up+10.7%.

The thrid quarter kept running in double-digit with July up 16.8% and August 10.7% respectively with 23.904 and 26.877 sales. In September car sales had been 29.653, up13.4%, posting the 21st year-on-year winning month in a row.

According to data released by BIL Sweden, the Swedish Associations of Car Manufacturers, during the first nine months of the year the total new cars sold in the country had been 248.653, up 11.7% from the correspondent period last year.
