The Swedish auto market in December 2023 falls for the 7th month this year, with new sales reaching 29,216 (-17.2%). 2023 closes with a total of 289,281 sales, up 0.6% from the previous year.
Looking at cumulative data up to December 2023 brand-wise, Volvo maintains 1st with 41,308 sales (-10.0%), followed by Volkswagen at 32,744 (-2.8%), Kia at 24,391 (-18.3%) and Toyota with 23,448 units sold (+0.7%).
Tesla rises 5 spots into 5th with 20,331 sales (+121.4%), in front of Audi -up 1 spot- with 18,539 new registrations (+33.6%) and BMW with 15,597 units sold (-5.6%).
Mercedes falls 2 spots into 8th position with 14,900 sales (-5.4%), followed by Skoda -down 1 spot- at 13,955 (+19.0%) and Peugeot -up 2 spots- closing the Top 10 with 7,694 units sold (-1.7%).
Looking at specific models the Tesla Model Y is the best selling car, -up 6 spots- with an 150.6% increase in sales, overtaking previous year’s leader the Volvo XC40, which fell 4.5% in volume so far.
