The Swiss auto market in 2023 closed with a total of 251,959 sales and increasing 11.6% compared to last year. December grew for the 16 consecutive month, with a total of 26,889 new sales (+8.9%).
Looking at cumulative data up to December 2023 brand-wise, the leader is still Volkswagen with 28,349 sales (+11.5%), followed by BMW at 21,360 (+8.2%) and Skoda -up 2 spots- at 21,160 (+21.6%)
In 4th position ranks Audi at 20,313 sales (+12.5%). Next up we have Mercedes -down 2 spots- at 19,971 sales (+3.5%), followed by Toyota with 13,291 registrations (+9.3%) and Ford with 10,029 units sold (+13.0%).
Tesla ranks in 8th with 8,757 auto registrations (+0.4%). Followed by Renault -up 1 spot- with 8,584 units sold (+14.3%). Closing the top 10 we have Hyundai -down 1 spot- with 8,452 sales (+11.5%).
Looking at specific models the Tesla Model Y is for the second month in a row the best-selling model with a 34.3% year-on-year growth, followed by the Toyota Yaris in second down 9.4%.
