Thailand automotive industry shocked by first half fall. The market fell down 40.8% scoring the worst performance among the global biggest thirty markets. The performance is penalizing the global Toyota, Isuzu and Nissan share.

In June 2014 according to data released by T.A.I.A, the Thai Automotive Industry Association, total new Light Passengers Vehicles sold have been 72.819, down 41.0% from year ago. First Half sales have been 437.372, losing the 40.8% from year ago. In such dramatic scenario almost all players have deeply lost volumes and the entire Asean region was dragged down.

Toyota the traditional market leader has sold only 27.510 vehicles with a loss in line with the market keeping share at 37.8%. In first half Toyota sales were 163.763 with share at 37.4% up 4.7 points from last year.

Isuzu in second place retailed 13.398 vehicles with share at 18.4%, down 1.2 points from the previous month. June loss was limited by Isuzu at 22.4%. Isuzu First half sales were 83.158 with share at 19.0%, up 4.1 points from last year.

Honda was third selling 9.087 units with 12.5% of share, up 0.1 points from May, despite having loss over 48% of June 2013 volumes. Year to date Honda was third losing one spot from last year with 47.283 retails and 10.8% of share, down 4.7 points from year ago.

Mitsubishi was fourth with 4.940 sales and 6.8% of share, flat from May. Year to date sales were 31.801 with 7.3% of share, down 1.0 points from last year. Mitsubishi in June fell 58% from year ago.

Nissan in fifth sold 4.228 with 5.8% of share, down 0.4 points of share from the previous month while losing 48% of June 2013 volumes. Year to date sales were 28.332 with 6.5% of share, down 1.3 points from 2013.

Looking at the best-selling models Toyota Hilux was again on top with 12.125 retails (down 32% from year ago) followed by Isuzu D-Max is the second with 10.758 units (down 29%) and the new Toyota Yaris with 4.771 sales.

The only year on year positive performance in the top 10 models was scored by Honda Jazz, ranked in 9th place with sales up 16.2%.
