Top 50 Best-selling Cars in the World. Toyota Corolla hit new all-time record volume.

This report is made thanks to the focus2move database, which includes monthly sales for over 90 markets, over 100 brands and more than 1.500 different models. Data are updated following their release by official sources and are subject to monthly updates. However, based on our experience, while single numbers will change a little, ranking is not subject to changes. We report also full year 2012 final data, to allow you a comparison with the past. Wishing to know sales of single model by country, just contact us for a quote.

As anticipated in the previous report on this subject, there is not competition in place for leadership, as in the second half of 2013 new generation of Toyota Corolla was sold at a monthly pace of 15-20% faster than the second. We are almost surprised to have seen Ford’s release in last December claiming for Focus leadership. Focus was leader in the first quarter of the year, before Toyota accelerated, gaining terrain month after month.

In November, Toyota Corolla sales have been 99.259, almost 14.000 more than Ford Focus with the astonishing share of 1.6%. With 1.080.299 cumulated sales, Corolla has already hit the new all-time annual sales record for a single model. Please bear in mind that the European version, under the nameplate Auris, is not included and is ranked 130th (in December) with over 12.000 units.

Ford Focus was second performing very well and better than ever. The 993.382 cumulated sales in November were only 10.000 below full year 2012. Also in this case, we shall clarify that the Focus MPV derivative, C-Max, is not included in Focus sales.

Ford F-Series in third place, kept leadership as best pickup in the World. November sales were 73.783 with 1.2% of market share. The second pick-up model is the “king of the desert”, the Toyota Hilux, ranked in 17th in December and 12th YTD. The third pick up was the Chevrolet Silverado, 17th in December.

Toyota Camry advanced again and was fourth in absolute and leader in the mid-size (or C/D in Europe) segment with 67.583 sales and 1.1% of share. Second in the segment was Honda Accord in 15th. Third was Buick Excelle in 16th.

Volkswagen Golf further improved its performance, although outpaced by Camry, with 64.294 sales and 1.0% of share.

Ford Fiesta grew up in 6th place with 61.918 retails and 1.0% of share, reinforcing the leadership among sub-compact (or B Class in Europe) models, with Volkswagen Polo (ranked 14th) over 10.000 behind and the third, Honda Fit (ranked 34th) 26.000 units below.

Wuling Hongguang (a light commercial) was the Winner of the Month, being the best-selling model in China where car sales are really hot actually. Hongguang soared in 7th place, up 5 spots, best ever ranking for a Chinese model.

Toyota RAV4 was a great performer in November, advancing in 11thplace, up 5 spots, with 53.861 units, almost 7.000 more than in the previous month.

Toyota Vios posted another remarkable performance. The favorite small car in Asean market ranked in 33rd place from the 70th with 30.355 sales.

In the table below, the exclusive report on Best-selling 50 car models in the World. Considering that data are subject to continue upgrade, we are reporting also the October sales volume, including most recent statistics:
