Turkey Cars sales in May 2016

Turkey cars sales in May 2016 almost recovered all the negative gap with year to date sales down only 0.2% Fueled by the Clio wonderful score, Renault gained the market leadership.

Market Outlook

Most of the Turkish economic indicators remained strong at the outset of the year despite heightened financial volatility in January, rising geopolitical threats and an uncertain political landscape. That said, it is highly unlikely that the economy maintained the economic momentum from Q4’s astonishing 5.7% expansion in Q1.

The domestic vehicles sales are weak this year albeit in May a positive figure has broken the previous four months losing series.

Indeed according to data reported by the O.D.D., Otomotiv Distribütörleri Derneği (Car Distributors Association in Turkey), May sales had been 92.733, up 13.7%.

Year to date sales had been 345.666, down 0.2%.

Competitive Arena

In May Renault was the new leader with 12.741 sales (+80.8%) with 13.7% of market share, followed by Volkswagen with 12.436 units (-3.2%), Ford with 10.051 (-5.1%),  Fiat with 9.636 (-6.5%) and Toyota with 6.067 (+50.5%).
