Turkey: strong car passenger’s demand pushed July market up 14%. Volkswagen was hot.

Turkish light passenger vehicles sales in July were 71.596, up 14.9% from last year with cumulated sales grew at 453.339 units, a robust 12.5% increase from 2012.

Considering only car passenger market, cumulated sales at July were up 20.3%, with sales reaching 347.818 units, while light commercial vehicle sales decreased 7.3% in comparison with the same period of the year before to reach 105.521.

Looking at the best brands performance (cars + LCV market):

Volkswagen jumped to the 1st position, up 3 spots from June, selling 10.736 vehicles with a share of 15.0%, up 2.7 points of share from the previous month. Year-to-date June sales were 61.997 with a share of 13.7%. Volkswagen held 5 models in the top 50, with the Passat in 7th position.

Renault fell to the 2nd position, selling 9.135 units with a share of 12.8%, down 0.4 points from the previous month. Year-to-date sales were 58.582 with a share of 12.9%. Renault held 6 models in the top 50, with the Symbol in 4th position.

Ford was 3rd selling 8.590 units with a share of 12.0%, down 0.6 points of share from the previous month. Year-to-date sales were 56.410 with a share of 12.4%. Ford held 4 models in the top 50, with the Focus in 3rd position.

Fiat was 4th, selling 8.238 vehicles with a share of 11.5%, down 0.9 points from the previous month. Year-to-date sales were 55.214 with a share of 12.2%. The best-selling model was the Linea, as market leader.

Opel was 5th selling 4.419 units with a share of 6.2%, down 0.6 points from the previous month. Year-to-date sales were 28.992 with a share of 6.4%.The top model was the Astra, jumped to the 2nd position.

Toyota jumped to the 6th position (9th year-to-date) selling 3.509 vehicles with a share of 4.9%, up 1.2 points from the previous month. Year-to-date sales were 17.229 with a share of 3.8%. The Corolla was 10th.

Dacia kept the 7th place selling 3.394 units with a share of 4.7%, stable from June. Year-to-date sales were 19.581 with a share of 4.3%. The best-selling model was the Duster in 19th position.

Hyundai fell to the 8th position (6th year-to-date) selling 3.332 units with a share of 4.7%, down 1.6 points from the previous month. Year-to-date sales were 26.035 with a share of 5.7%. The top model was the i20 in 16th position.

Fiat Linea was leader again with 3.065 units and a share of 4.5%, down 1.3 points from the previous month. Year-to-date sales were 22.147 with a share of 5.1%.

Opel Astra was 2nd, up 4 spots, with 2.648 units and a share of 3.9%, up 0.3 points from the previous month, followed by Ford Focus in 3rd with 2.481 sales and a share of 3.7%, down 0.3 points from the previous month.

Renault Symbol was 4th, up 5 spots, with 2.479 units and a share of 3.7%, up 1.2 points from the previous month, followed by Renault Fluence in 5th with 2.403 sales and a share of 3.5%, up 0.4 points from the previous month, and by Renault Clio in 6th, down 3 spots, with 2.334 sales and a share of 3.4%, down 0.6 points from the previous month.

Volkswagen Passat was 7th, up 4 spots, with 2.253 sales and a share of 3.3%, up 1.0 points from the previous month, followed by Volkswagen Golf in 8th, up 9 spots, with 2.071 sales and a share of 3.0%, up 1.5 points from the previous month.
