Turkey Vehicle Market fell again in June 2014. Second half outlook negative.

Turkey Vehicle Market lost another 18.8% in June 2014. No positive signals are foreseen for the second Half due to the approaching of the electoral process and other macroeconomics measures that will affect the Automotive Market causing a significant reduction.

In June 2014 accordingly with data released by O.D.D. , new Light Passengers Vehicles sold have been 60.163 down 18.8% from year ago, the sixth negative performance year on year in a row. First Half sales have been 286.871 down 24.9% from year ago.

Passenger car sales went down by 18.89% in comparison to the same month of the year before and became 47.278 while Light commercial vehicle market decreased 18.5% in June 2014 compared to June 2013 to 12.885 units.

In the first six months of 2014, 83.4% of the passenger car market segment again consisted of the vehicles in the A, B and C segments whose tax ratios are low. The highest sales numbers according to segments were reached in Segment C with a share of 51.6% (a quantity of 116.579) and according to frame, the most preferred body type was the Sedan (46.8%, a quantity of 105.752).

In the second half of 2014 approaching electoral process,macro prudential measures, monetary tightening policy of TCMB (Turkish Central Bank), geopolitical developments and money policies of USA and European Central Banks will probably continue to be effective causing a significant reduction in the automotive market.

Volkswagen kept the leadership also in June selling 8.030 units with 13.3% of share, down a significant 2.4 points from May. In the first Half sales were 45.213 and share at 15.8%, up 2.7 points from year ago. The first Volkswagen model was Jetta advanced in 8th place with 1.756 sales, while Polo collpased in 16th aftre being 4th in May followed by Passat in 17th.

Ford soared second with 7.370 sales and 12.3% of share, up 2.7 points from the previous month. Year to date sales were 27.704 with 9.7% of share, up 3 points from 2013. The Focus was 4th last month with 2.120 sales.

Renault lost one place place and was 3rd with 7.320 retails and 12.2% of share, down 0.2 points from May, while cumulate sales were 37.765 with 13.2% of share, down 0.5 points from 2013. Clio and Fluence were respectively third and second with 2.598 and 2.195 sales.

Fiat was fourth selling 6.652 units and 11.1% of share, down 0.7 points from May. In the first six monhts Fiat was stable in third with 32.392 retails and 11.3% of share, down 0.1 points from year ago. The Linea was market leader with 11.901 cumulate sales and 2.805 this month.

Hyundai was fifth with 3.708 retails and 6.2% of share, down 0.1 points. First Half sales were 18.209 with share at 6.3%, down 0.5 points from 2013. The i20 was 10th with 1.339 retails while the i30 was out of top30 with 598 units.

Looking at the best-selling models, the ranking leaded by Fiat Linea, followed by Fluence, Clio and Focus. Behind Opel Astra was stable in 5th followed by Toyota Corolla.
