Turkey economy expanded at a blistering pace in the third quarter as double-digit credit growth, a healthy external sector and a positive base effect drove year-on-year GDP growth to a near seven-year high of 11.1%. Household spending accelerated sharply due to an unsustainable fiscal stimulus, while capital expenditure growth was balanced and robust across components.
Economic growth is expected to have moderated considerably in the fourth quarter as the government’s fiscal measures wind down and the country’s imbalances become more visible.
Turkish domestic vehicles market in recent years suffered for a crisis in the 2014, mainly due to economic and political reason, but since early 2015 has taken a momentum hitting the all time record both in 2015 and 2016, approaching the milestone of 1 million units, before to moderately decline in the 2017.
Indeed in the 2017, according to data reported by the Association of Car Manufacturers (O.D.D.). light vehicles sales have been 956.154 (-2.8%).

At brand-wise, thanks to the launch of the new Megane, Renault is market leader with 130.276 sales (+7.0%) with 13.6% of marke share. In second place Fiat with 120.049 sales (+13.1%) having outpace Volkswagen, third with 117.481 (-12.7%).
Ford was fourth with 111.064 (+1.3%) followed by Hyundai with 52.265 units (+1.0%), Dacia with 48.370 (+1.8%), Toyota with 45.209 units (-14.4%), Opel with 44.707 (-19.4%), Peugeot with 40.482 (+13.8%) and in 10th place Mercedes with 34.631 (-15.0%).
At model wise, the best-selling model was the Fiat Egea with 47.704 sales (+24.7%) ahead of the Renault Megane with 44.480 units (+180%) and the Renault Clio with 37.167 (+24.9%).
