United Arab Emirates Car Market in 2012 hit new record sales.

December light passenger vehicles market posted the 20th year-on-year increase in a string with 26.846 sales, up 26.6% from last year. Full Year 2012 sales were 311.284, up 27.8%, hitting the new all-time record. UAE car market in 2012 surged in world’s 34th place.

Looking at the best brands performance:

Toyota in December has reduced the sales speed, selling 7.817 units with a share of 27.9%, down 5.3 points of share from the previous month. Full Year sales were 104.058 with a share of 33.3%.Toyota held 7 models in the top 9. Hilux was the market leader.

Nissan in 2nd sold 3.744 units with a share of 13.4%, down 0.8 points of share from the previous month. Full Year sales were 45.183 with a share of 14.5%, down 3.7 points from the previous year. Nissan held 5 models in the top 20, with the Patrol in 8th position this month.

Mitsubishi confirmed the 3rd position with 1.868 sales and a share of 6.7%, flat on the previous month. Full Year it was 4th with 18.999 sales and a share of 6.1%, down 2.6 points from the previous year. The top model was the Lancer, 12th in December and 8th in Full Year.

Hyundai was 4th selling 1.867 units, only one less than Mitsubishi, with a share of 6.7%, up 0.8 points from the previous month. Full Year it was third with 19.474 sales and a share of 6.2%, up 1.3 points from 2011. Top model was the Accent in 20th in December and 17th in the year.

Fuso was 5th with 1.384 sales and a share of 4.9%, down 0.2 points from the previous month. Full Year sales were 13.618 with a share of 4.4%.The Canter was 3rd in the full year and 5th in December.

Ford was 6th with 1.359 units and a share of 4.9%, up 0.4 points from the previous month. Full Year sales were 13.174 with a share of 4.2%, up 0.8 points from the previous year.

Chevrolet was 7th selling 1.012 units with a share of 2.6%, down 0.6 points from the previous month. Full Year it was 10th with 8.152 sales and a share of 2.6%, up 0.3 points from 2011.

Looking at the top models, the Toyota Hilux was stable as market leader, with 1.384 sales and a share of 5.2%, down 0.5 points from the previous month. Full Year sales were 19.904 with a share of 6.4%, up 0.3 points from 2011.

The Corolla was 2nd with 1.368 sales and a share of 4.5%, down 0.5 points from the previous month. Full Year sales were 13.908.

Fuso Carter was third again with 1.262 sales and 4.7% of share, followed by the Toyota Land Cruiser in 4th, with 921 sales and 4.5% of share.

Toyota Prado was 5th with 3.2% of share, followed by the

Land Cruiser P/U, Nissan Patrol in 7th , Mitsubishi Lancer and L200.

Nissan Sunny was 10th.
