United Arab Emirates: first half 2013 car market at new record. Audi shines.

Light passenger vehicles sold in UAE in June 2013 were 28.353, up 12.3%, with first half sales at 176.462, the best ever half for this country, up 18.7% from last year.

The market kept its momentum pushed by strong consumer’s demand increase and first car demand from immigrant workers.

Improving sales by 27% from last year, the local Audi importer become the largest in the Gulf area more than doubling sales achieved in KSA, in spite of UAE market is the half. Strong demand on Audi top selling model, the large SUV Q7 seven seats, with over 500 sales in the half.

Looking at the best brands performance in the last month:

Toyota dominated – as usual – the market, selling 9.632 vehicles with a share of 34.0%. Sales in the first half were 60.857 with a share of 34.5%, up 2.0 points of share from 2012 share. Toyota held 7 models in the top 25, with the Hilux as market leader.

Nissan climbed to the 2nd position, selling 4.847 units with a share of 17.1%, up 1.2 points of share from first half. Sales in the first half were 28.025 with a share of 15.9%, up 1.4 points from 2012. Nissan held 5 models in the top 25, with the Patrol in 6th position.

Hyundai was 3rd, selling 2.005 vehicles with a share of 7.1%, up 1.0 points of share from first half. Sales in the first half were 10.821 with a share of 6.1%, down 0.2 points from 2012. Hyundai held 3 models in the top 25, with the Accent in 7th position.

Mitsubishi fell to the 4th position, selling 1.363 units with a share of 4.8%, down 2.4 points from first half. Sales in the first half were 12.663 with a share of 7.2%, up 1.1 points from 2012. The top model was the Pajero in 11th position.

Fuso was 5th, selling 1.256 units with a share of 4.4%, up 0.4 points from first half. Sales in the first half were 7.047 with a share of 4.0%. Fuso did not place a model in Top 25.

The traditional Toyota leadership was expressed this month by Hilux, Prado, Land Cruiser, Corolla and Camry in the Top 5 positions.

Nissan Patrol was 6th with 967 sales and a share of 3.4%, up 0.7 points from the previous month, followed by Hyundai Accent in 7th with 928 units and a share of 3.3%, up 1.1 points from May.

BMW X5 in 14th was up 0.8 points of share, while Nissan Sunny in 15th was down 0.9 points from the previous month.
