Volkswagen Golf/Jetta is best-selling car in the World. See Top 50 Model Ranking.

This report is made thanks to the focus2move database, which includes monthly sales for over 90 markets, over 100 brands and more than 1.500 different models. Data are updated following their release by official sources and are subject to monthly updates. However, based on our experience, while single numbers will change a little, ranking is not subject to changes. We report also full year 2012 final data, to allow you a comparison with the past. New generation of Toyota Corolla is taking space and enlarging the monthly gap over the rival, Ford Focus, ending the quarrel, open by Ford Executives about global leadership. In October, Toyota sales were 105.248, over 18.000 more than Ford Focus, with a year to date gap now at 75.000, with Corolla at 983.000 and Focus at 907.000. Please note that Auris or C-Max sales are not included.

Ford F-Series in third place, kept leadership as best pickup in the World. October sales were 76.262 with 1.2% of market share. However, its success in based on North America, where it leads both in U.S. and Canada and is exported just in few other countries.

Volkswagen Golf was the great Winner of the Month, advancing in fourth place, up 3 spots, with 63.696 sales. It must be considered that Golf is only an hatchback version with the sedan derivative sold under the name Jetta, which ranked 11th in October, and leader of its segment. Combining Golf and Jetta sales, Volkswagen could call the real global leadership with over 110.000 units sold in the last month (Volkswagen Golf Plus sales not included).

Toyota Camry advanced in fifth place and kept leadership in the mid-size (or C/D in Europe) segment with 62.087 sales and 0.9% of share, down 0.2 points from the previous quarter.

Chevrolet Cruze advanced as well and was sixth with 61.809 sales and 0.9% of share, outpacing Hyundai Elantra, seventh in October while fourth year to date.

Honda can enjoy the leadership among SUV models, thanks to the CR-V, 8th in absolute in October with 57.719, over 12.000 more than the second SUV, the Toyota Rav4, ranked in 16th place with 45.400 sales.

Ford Fiesta kept leadership among sub-compact (or B Class in Europe) models although losing 4 spots from 5th to 9th with 57.406 sales, keeping Volkswagen Polo (ranked 13th) behind for 4.000 units.

Honda Civic was back into top ten ranking in spite of its style is not very appreciated in Europe and thanks to its success in North America.

Chevrolet Silverado, famous to be always the second in US, performed very well in October and soared in 14th place from the 25th with 47.121 sales.

Is Buick a Luxury brand or not? Different are opinions in various market. If yes, in October the American brand was leader among Luxury models thanks to the Excelle position in 19th place. If not, the leader among luxury models was the BMW Series 3, ranked 25th, down 7 spots from September.
