World Best-selling Cars Ranking in June 2014 reports an amazing Volkswagen Golf scoring a 29 percent jump from year ago while reducing the gap from Corolla and Focus. The fastest growing model was a Chinese, the Wuling Hongguang in 12th place.

In June 2014 according to data collected by focus2move Research Team in over 110 markets, the total new Light Passengers Vehicles global market was up 2.2% from the previous year with 7.3 million units. In the first half of 2014 the global sales have been just over 43.3 million with an increase of 3.6% from year ago.

In June the sales of two leaders have been stable with Toyota Corolla first with 102.177 units, up 1.7% from the correspondent period last year, and Ford Focus second with 99.144 units, down 0.7%. In the first half the gap between the two fighters was at around 30.000 units and the full year leadership should reward again the Japanese ugly model.

Grew from the 8th place in 2013 to the third this year, the Volkswagen Golf is furiously reducing the gap from the others and with 77.628 June sales posted an increase of 29.3%.

Ford F-Series was fourth (73.118 sales, -8.8%) ahead of Corolla Camry and Hyundai Elantra.

A Chinese LCV is one of fastest growing model in the World: the Wuling Hongguang was 12th with 51.198 sales. +144.2% from last year.

Thanks to a huge year on year increase the Daihatsu Tanto (the key car market leader in Japan) took the leadership in the “City Car” with 21.323 sales (ranking 69th in absolute) ahead of Chevrolet Spark, Suzuki Alto, Volkswagen Up! and Suzuki Swift.

The leader of “Small Car” segment was again the Ford Fiesta, 7th best-selling model with 63.369 units ahead of the Volkswagen Polo, (in 11th with 55.561) and the Renault Clio (18th with 45.520).

The “Compact Car” segment includes Corolla, Focus and Golf, so the entire podium!

The “Mid-size Car” segment leader was the Toyota Camry (5th with 70.504 units), followed by Honda Accord (16th with 48.791) and Hyundai Sonata (19th with 44.500).

The “Full- size Car” segment leader was the BMW Series 5 (26th with 35.924) followed by Audi A6 (51th with 26.283) and Mercedes E Class (61th with 24.060)

Among SUV, the best was the Honda CRV, with 69.626 units, followed by the Toyota RAV4 (49.466 sales) and Volkswagen Tiguan (41.439) while in the pick-up area, behind Ford F-Series ahead of Toyota Hilux and  Chevrolet Silverado.
