World Best Selling Compact Cars Rankings in 2025. The Geely Xingyuan’s breakthrough threatens the Toyota Corolla which is going through a downturn at the top. The Xpeng Mona M03 also impressed emerging as new top contender.
Looking at full-year data in 2025 for global rankings of compact cars, that is, autos with a size around 4.5 meters in sedan or hatch body, we keep celebrating the success of the model leading this segment since over 25 years.
The Toyota Corolla was still the top model with a 11.5% share, despite losing 9.2% in year-on-year volume. Produced in Japan since 1966, the Corolla has been the best-selling nameplate in the World for 25 years and is also the best-selling car in all history, with over 60 million units sold so far.
The Geely Xingyuan showed outstanding growth into 2nd, climbing 277 spots and securing a 5.3% share of the total. The Honda Civic ranked 3rd, losing 1 spot and 12.9% to secure a 4.5% share.
The Hyundai Elantra ranked 4th (-3.2%), followed by the Volkswagen Golf -down 2 spots- in 5th (-12.7%), the Volkswagen Sagitar -down 1 spot- in 6th (+6.2%), and the Audi A3 -up 2 spots- in 7th (+11.8%).
The Nissan Sentra ranked in 8th (-4%) ahead of the Xpeng MONA M03 –up 270 spots- in 9th while the ChangAn Eado grew 7.5% and 2 spots into 10th.
