We are reporting in this article the Global Ranking (total sales in the 160 countries we track) for the Executive cars, large (and usually luxury) vehicles with a size over the 4.8 meters, in the 3/4/5 doors and wagon.

In the last decade this segment was dominated by two models, the Mercedes E Class and the archrival, the BMW 5 Series, but in the last three years the BMW model was able to defend the leadership.

And so was in the 2023, when full year global sales ranking was lead by the BMW 5 Series with 263.993 sales (-13.6%). Manufactured since 1972, the 5 Series is the second best-selling BMW ever with over 8 million sales globally so far through seven generations.

In second place the Mercedes E Class with 258.226 sales (-4.6%). Starting with the new naming strategy applied by Mercedes in the early ’90s, the model began production in 1993 and is actually at its 6th generation.

In third place the Audi A6  with 256.656 sales (+38.5%) a great performance which project this model to be a serious candidate for the 2024 leadership.
