World Best Selling Executive Cars ranking in 2023. For the third year in a row the leader was the BMW 5 Series with 263.993 sales (-13.6%) ahead of Mercedes C Class and Audi A6.
We are reporting in this article the Global Ranking (total sales in the 160 countries we track) for the Executive cars, large (and usually luxury) vehicles with a size over the 4.8 meters, in the 3/4/5 doors and wagon.
In the last decade this segment was dominated by two models, the Mercedes E Class and the archrival, the BMW 5 Series, but in the last three years the BMW model was able to defend the leadership.
And so was in the 2023, when full year global sales ranking was lead by the BMW 5 Series with 263.993 sales (-13.6%). Manufactured since 1972, the 5 Series is the second best-selling BMW ever with over 8 million sales globally so far through seven generations.
In second place the Mercedes E Class with 258.226 sales (-4.6%). Starting with the new naming strategy applied by Mercedes in the early ’90s, the model began production in 1993 and is actually at its 6th generation.
In third place the Audi A6 with 256.656 sales (+38.5%) a great performance which project this model to be a serious candidate for the 2024 leadership.
In fourth place the Hyundai Grandeur rises 4 spots with 113.085 units sold (+68.7%), followed by the Zeekr 001 – up 1 spot – with 76.357 sales (+6.1%), the Toyota Crown up 14 spots , with 68.534 sales (+284%) and the Skoda Superb -up 2 spots- with 66.767 units sold (+11.9%).
In eight place the Genesis G80 with 51.781 sales (-4.4%) ahead of the Dongfeng Aeolus Hyun -down 2 spots- with 49.156 sales (-30.9%),
Closing the Top 10 there is the Volvo S90 with 48.584 units (+6.1%).
