World Best Selling MPV in 2023 is an Electric Chinese model, the GAC Aion Y thanks to the astonishing success in China. The Segment is growing in double-digit. Top 25 ranking reported.
The Multi Purpose Vehicles (MPV) segment is deeply declined in Europe and North America following the success of SUV models. However, in Asia the demand for this vehicles is still strong, as confirmed by the 2023 global sales, increased in double-digit, at 4.4 million.
Proving that the segment is an Asiatic affair, the segment leadership at global level in 2023 for conquest by a Chinese model, electric, and launched only three years ago. It is the GAC Aion Y, sold in 235.749 pieces (+97.0%) an astonishing and modern vehicles.
In second place, the last generation of an icon for the segment, the Kia Carnival -up 6 spots- with 150.151 sales (+33.5%), for the first time in the podium.
In third place the former leader, the Toyota Sienna with 146.748 sales (+6.5%).
In fourth place the an “old style” compact MPV, seven seater, the Maruti Eeco with 136.010 sales (+8.7%) followed by the Maruti Ertiga with 129.968 (-2.9%) and the Chrysler Pacifica with 128.103 units sold (+19.6%).
In eight place the Honda Odyssey with 122.782 (+20.5%) ahead of the Denza D9 -up 65 spots- with 9118.595 sales (+1109%).
In 10th place the Wuling Hongguang, which was the leader in the period 2010-2021, with 114.536 sales (-7.9%).
