World Car Group Ranking in 2024 is dominated by Toyota Group (-3%), which kept a lead on the runner-up Volkswagen (-2.3%). BYD surged 35.6% in year-to-date volume.

In this article we report on the global ranking of car manufacturers considered as a group, aggregating sales done for each brand owned by the same group.
Looking at cumulative sales up to September 2024 the leader was Toyota Group, with 7,61 million vehicles (-3%), retaining a wide margin over all other competitors.
The second was Volkswagen Group with 6,13 million sales (-2.3%). Growth in America (+8.7%) was outweighted by losses in Asia (-10.2%) and Europe (-9%).
In third place, Hyundai-Kia recorded 5,05 million sales with a decline of 3.7%. Overall performance was negative, with significant drops in Africa (-18.5%), Asia (-6%), and Oceania (-5%).
Renault Nissan Alliance grew 1 spot, ranking in 4th and reporting 4,61 million sales while growing 1.2%. This growth was mainly sustained in Europe (5.2%) and Ocenia (+9.2%).
Stellantis dropped 1 spot and ranked in 5th place with 4,35 million sales (-8.3%). It lost volume in America (-10.8) and Europe (-8.3%); however it also reported gains in Africa (+51.8%).
In 6th position, General Motors reported 4,12 million sales (-6.5%), followed by Honda Motor with 2,863 million new sales (-1.3%) and Ford Group with 2,862 million units sold (-0.3%).
In 9th place, BYD climbed one spot and reported 2,52 million sales. With a 35.6% increase in volume compared to the prior year, it reported one of the best performances in the top 30.
Closing the top 10, Suzuki dropped one spot and ranked in 10th with 2,36 million registrations (+4.4%).
