Best Selling Auto Brands Ranking in 2025. Ford climbed 2 spots, moving closer to leader Toyota and overtaking Volkswagen’s spot. BYD and Geely made impressive leaps with doble-digit growth while BMW and Chevrolet fell out of the Top 10.
Sourcing local Minister of Transportation or deputy agencies, we collect new light vehicles registrations, country by country, brand by brand, in 159 markets worldwide. Extracting data for our Global Auto Database we are able to report on this ranking as several others.
Considering cumulative data up to February 2025, Toyota was still the best selling brand, with 1,57 million vehicles sold. Gaining 12.5% year-on-year, the Japanese giant retained its decade-long leadership in the market, securing a 12% share of all global sales.
Ford -up 2 spots- ranked in 2nd, with 742,442 units sold and a 5.6% share of the global market (+22.9%).
In third place Volkswagen -down 1 spot- totaled 740,144 units sold, achieving a market share of 5.6% despite losing 2.7%.
In fourth place Honda –down 1 spot- sold 644,980 vehicles (+2.2%), followed by Hyundai with 552,880 sales (-2.7%) and Kia -up 1 spot- at 539,878 units (+16.4%).
BYD -up 3 spots- ranked in 7th with 434,049 million (+24.7%), followed by Nissan -down 2 spots- with 407,062 units sold (-22.7%), and Geely -up 7 spots- with 353,881 sales (+56.7%). Closing the top 10, Maruti -up 2 spots- reported 342,735 sales, growing 2.6%.
