World’s car market up 3% in May 2013. Argentina was the strongest, Algeria the new.

Following the robust 7.3% increase posted in the previous month, the global passenger vehicles market rose 3.3% in May at 7 million units. Year-to-date sales were 34.4 million, up 4.0%.

Considering only the Top 25 World’s Markets, May sales were 6.36 million while cumulated figures were 31.0 million.

In the next months, forecast concerning China provide a less positive period, while many countries that fueled last year increase (Russia, Thailand, Japan) have now started a declining trend. Europe will stay down and just America, in North and South areas will keep market up.

Giving a look at global regions performance in May

This months, let start from Africa in order to welcome Algeria into the World’s Top 25 car markets. The Mediterranean country entered in 24th place. It is the second African country in Top 25, after South Africa in 23rd.

Asia:

China kept the outstanding growing speed although several metropolitan areas had further limited the new vehicles sales, aiming to limit the huge level of pollution. May sales improved 11.1% projecting the entire year above 21 million units, one fourth of global vehicles sales.

Japan and India kept the negative pace, while South Korea was substantially flat.

In Asean region, Thailand started to lose terrain in comparison with last year, as government incentives were over while Indonesia kept its momentum surging by 7.4%.

North America grew again in May, with robust sales posted in U.S., up by 8.2%, Canada by 2.4% and Mexico by 9.05%.

South America was driven up by Brazil which grew 9.5% after the April 29.3% boom, while Argentina, kept its world’s 17th rank, surging 21.0%

Europe

A part of United Kingdom (+9.3%), Belgium, up 10.9% and Turkey, up 15.0% all others European countries had lost: Germany was down 9.8%, Russia down 12.0%, France down 10.5%, Italy down 8.3%, Spain, down 2.2%, and the Netherlands, down 34.8%.

Finally, Australia ranked in 15th position, which was flat in May.
